« 2a - What the ???? »
Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 4:42PM To her surprise, she sat there memorized, entranced, and somewhat relieved. It was fat boy. But he looked different. He was clean shaven, nicely dressed and didn’t look as repulsive as he did at work.
“Fat boy - what are you doing here?” She said quickly and flatly. “Did you follow me here? Um, you are going to have to scram quickly because I’m waiting on someone.”
“You’re waiting on me.” He tried to sound encouraging. “I’m Loverboy.” He gave her half a grin as he sat down across from a stunned faced Avalon.
Avalon could feel the earth pulling her to the ground. Inside, the acid from her stomach almost seem to attack her as her worse fear came true. What she though would be so awesome and near God like perfect instantly turned to Satan himself laughing at her misgivings.
“YOU CAN’T POSSIBLLY BE LOVERBOY! Have you been snooping in on my computer? You’re purposely breaking my shit, just so you can see what I’m doing aren’t you? I don’t have time for this mess!” She said with venom.
“I know what your thinking, but just here me out first.” He tried to be patient with her knowing her face told him a thousands words.
“I don’t have to sit here and listen to you lie. I know what the deal is. You’ve been spying on me through my computer. I know you like me, but this pathetic attempt to get with me by using my personal business against me isn’t going to work!” She said without trying to appear hurt and confused.
Avalon felt the walls of the club caving in her. The room was spinning - her mind jumping - heart beating faster and faster while the music played louder and louder.
“Damn! Will you just listen!?!” He took his handkerchief from his suit jacket to wipe his brow. “I’m Loverboy. I didn’t realize that YOU were both Avalon and Ava, until I fixed your computer one day a couple of months ago. I signed up to the board because as a black man because I knew for sure I wouldn’t be accepted by the women because I’m a white dude. I wanted to see what it would be like to date out of my race and –“
Avalon quickly interrupted him.
“This was just no way to do it. You’re playing around with people’s emotions. You were playing around with me.”
“No, I wasn’t. Plus you came on to me, remember?”
“Uh, HELLL NAH…I didn’t come on to you! Don’t you even think that! I came on to the fine ass chocolate honey in the picture. Besides, where’d you get that picture?” She said.
“That’s a picture of my best friend. He’s on the board and I promised him I would not tell who he is on the board. But he’s coming here tonight, because I know that’s who you really want to meet. Plus he’s also interested in you as well.” Terry said sadly.
“The internet has so many lies, tall tales, and wicked weaved webs.” She stated to Terry as her heart sank and a tear rolled down her cheek. She didn’t even care if the real person attached to the picture was coming. Clearly, she had been duped and underneath she felt as if she had deserved it for the way she had treated Terry.
Without further conversation with Terry, Avalon got up from the table and left him sitting there, not even realizing it, she accidentally bumped into the man in the picture who she thought was Loverboy. He briefly looked at her as she walked by, it was Greg1. She couldn’t even muster enough breath and strength to utter the words pardon me. Avalon ran as fast as she could to her car before she started to cry.
As she walked to her car she decided the first thing she was going to do was to shut down the message board. Never again, she thought would other people suffer this kind of humiliation at her expense.
