« 2 - The Meet Up »
Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 10:21AM Avalon made her way downtown to the Club A/V. She gave a quick glance over the club. Loverboy didn't seem to be there...yet. The club was semi packed. Club A/V was not the typical kind of spot Avalon frequented. It reminded her of Coyote Ugly in a way. Girls dancing on the tables and at the bar. Fun was to be had by all, but it wasn't her normal scene. Avalon would have preferred to have met at the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. She admired the lighting of the Cheesecake Factory - it was dim enough to create a romantic atmosphere, even with the large crowds. But what could she do, this is where he said he was going to be...so if the mountain wasn't moving fast enough to the shore - well it was time for the shore to roll up on the mountain.
After looking for a table, she finally found a small but quaint one off to the side. It was somewhat out of the way of the music, yet she had a good view of who was coming into the club. Avalon looked at her watch. She sat in her chair very uneasy. She wasn't sure what the first thing she would say to ‘him’. She didn’t want to appear too desperate, but she also wanted to let him know she was very interested in getting to know him better.
She wasn’t sure what he’d be wearing, but she knew what he'd looked like from the the pictures he posted on the board. Oh my God she thought...what if the pictures he posted were really of someone else and he was a sham. Or what if he was better looking in person? Could she refrain from jumping his bones? She tried to regroup and not think negative thoughts or thoughts of sex. She waited patiently. She looked at her watch; as the waitress passed by she requested a Diet Coke. She didn't want to jump out there and meet dude with alcohol breath. "I'll wait," she mumbled to herself. Don't be such as hag she thought. More people were beginning to file into the club. She checked out the group of girls that had just entered. Avalon was amazed at the chick wearing the hot pink spandex and neon green lace dress. It looked some shit the girl sewed together herself. Avalon waited and she waited. She looked at her watch and only seven more minutes had passed.
Suddenly, her diamond tennis bracelet slipped off her wrist and fell to the floor. She reached down to pick it up and under the table she could see shoes and legs standing at the table. Avalon froze. She was scared to look up. Her heart raced. Boom Boom Boom. A bead of sweat slowly came off the side of her brow. Time stood still as it took the sweat drop of water to go from Avalon's head to the floor. This moment in time was moving in slow motion. The music she heard was slow to the point that it wasn't unrecognizable. Finally he was here. Standing there. It was the man that God made just for her. She took a long deep breath and she popped up like a Jack-in-the-box.
