« 1c - Lies & Jilted »
Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 5:14AM The new message window popped up on her screen.
"It's about damn time!" she said. She quickly opened the message. The message she had been dying for the last one minute to get.
Loverboy: Yeah sure we can hook up. I'll be at the Club A/V tonight. Come on out if you want.
"If I want? Oh yeah, I want!" she laughed it off to herself. Avalon was very excited. She was FINALLY going to get a chance to meet the man of her dreams. The man she had been waiting for all of her life. She kept an extra set of clothes and toiletries in the trunk of her car for Friday night change ups. It was just easy access and precisely for these last minute detours. But she'd usually use it for going out with her college friends.
Avalon looked at the clock she had some time before she wanted to get over to the bar. As she walked to the elevator she ran into one of the security guards patroling her floor. "Working kinda late? Especially for a Friday night," he said. "Not really. Just had some last minute deadlines I needed to complete." "Well you gotta eat, right? I get off my shift in about 30 minutes and I'll take you out to eat." Avalon knew in any given Sunday she wouldn't be seen dead or alive with this dude and so why lead him on. "Look, it's really nice that you'd like to take me out, but I have a boyfriend," she grinned. She was already calling Loverboy her boyfriend and they hadn't even met yet. "I did't ask you if you had a boyfriend. I just said you must be hungry," he replied. "That's my boyfriend's job - you know to - - feed me," she stated slowly as she moved in closer to the security guard. He moved toward her even closer and said, "Doesn't look he feeds you everyday. Matter of fact it looks like he doesn't feed you at all." And with that he walked away. Avalon stood in the hall by herself. She wondered to herself did she had have a look of desperation.
In that one instance, she felt jilted. Never had she had this feeling. She knew she had lied about Loverboy being her boyfriend, but she wasn't that sure it was that obvious. Men always thought she was pretty, but they could never get anywhere with her. For some reason, she thought she was too good just to be seen with anyone.
Sometimes it was the bitch in her that stopped good men from loving her and it was the apple pie in her that gave her the power to have men fall to their knees if she wanted them too.
To be continued....
